The Paul Peters Memorial Bursary was established in 1990 by the Saskatoon Centennial Auditorium and Convention Centre Board of Directors in memory of the late Paul Peters. Mr. Peters was the Executive Director ofthe Centennial Auditorium for many years until his untimely death in November of 1988. The Bursary is awarded annually by the Board of Directors to a grade 12 graduate who has displayed exceptional skills and leadership in the areas of music and/or drama, and whose goal is to pursue post secondary education in one of these areas. The Paul Peters Memorial Fund will provide $500 and the name and picture of the recipient will be displayed in the lobby of TCU Place. |

Monica Buchko, a grade twelve student at Walter Murray Collegiate Institute has been selected as the 2009 recipient of the $500 Paul Peters Memorial Bursary. The Paul Peters Memorial Bursary was established in 1990 in memory of the late Paul Peters who until his tragic death in 1988 was the Executive Director of the Centennial Auditorium and Convention Centre. The Bursary is awarded annually by the Board of Directors of TCU Place to a grade 12 graduate who has displayed exceptional skills and leadership in the areas of music and/or drama, and whose goal is to pursue post secondary education in one of these areas. Monica has been a major contributor to the drama programme at Walter Murray Collegiate. Her involvement encompasses all drama opportunities offered by the school: Musical, One Act Plays, Variety Night, Fashion Show, Remembrance Day Service, Open House, Light & Sound Peer Tutoring, and Student Technician. Monica has diverse experience in theatre arts; from stage actor to stage director, from production manager to stage manager, and from light design to sound design, but her true passion lies in technical arts. Monica has had the opportunity to apply to the Department of Drama at the University of Alberta. Her goal is to obtain her Bachelor of Arts in Technical Theatre and Stage Management. She hopes to be involved in larger productions that would accept the specific knowledge that she has obtained from the University of Alberta.

ELIGIBILITY: The bursary is awarded to a graduating Saskatoon Grade 12 student who will be continuing post-secondary education in the field of the performing arts.
